The Master Plan Overview being mailed out to citizens in the next coming weeks and FOUND HERE simply highlights just a few strategies that are outlined in the full plan that has been worked on tirelessly by Village members collectively providing their input over the past few years.

The best communities actively seek citizen input through every phase of community development. The new master plan contains themes, concepts, and strategies we would like YOUR input from. It is time to narrow down our focus to make the important choices and get going. We need to know from YOU what you feel are the most important and urgent things in the plan are. These guiding principles and goals were crafted based on the public input, the previous master plan, and the best practices in redevelopment planning.

Encourage compatible infill development while maintaining Lexington’s small-town charm Support housing and employment opportunities for residents of all ages Promote a healthy quality of life by capitalizing on the Village’s walkability, access to Lake Huron, and recreational activities Maintain quality Village services and infrastructure, fiscally responsible strategic growth, and maintenance of Village-owned properties

  • Advance the Village’s economy from a seasonal model to a year-round model 
  • Promote mixed-use developments within the downtown that incorporate opportunities to live, work, and play
  • Strengthen the Gateway Corridors: The transitional points of entry to the village
  • Develop a Village marketing strategy that attracts new business, new residents, and tourism
  • Develop a parking management strategy to balance the need of residents, employees, and visitors

 

  • Explore Agritourism: where tourism and agriculture meet
 
  • Enhance the waterfront open spaces to meet the current and anticipated needs of the community for events, recreation, and tourism
